Play coins: what they are and what they are not

Play coins power every spin on Orbitpop, but they have no value, cannot be bought and can never be turned into anything else.

A plain definition

Play coins are the only currency on Orbitpop. You use them to set a stake on a machine, and machines pay them back according to their paytables. They are a way of keeping score inside a game, much like points in a board game.

That is the whole of their job. Play coins have no monetary value and no value of any other kind. They are not a voucher, a credit, a token for a prize or a stand-in for money.

Things play coins can never do

  • They cannot be bought. Orbitpop has no shop, no purchases and no paid extras of any kind.
  • They cannot be withdrawn or cashed out.
  • They cannot be sold, traded, gifted for value or exchanged with other people.
  • They cannot be swapped for prizes, goods or services, here or anywhere else.
  • They do not carry over to any other site or service.

If anyone ever offers to buy or sell Orbitpop play coins, it is not something we support or allow. Coins only ever exist inside the site.

Where your coins come from

Every new guest pass and every new account starts with 100,000 play coins. After that, coins come from the machines themselves and from a handful of free sources:

  • A free top-up of 20,000 coins whenever your balance falls below 2,000.
  • A free coin drop every four hours.
  • Daily missions, such as spinning 25 times or playing three different machines.
  • Play-coin bonuses as you gain XP and move up levels.

Because top-ups are always available, running out is never a problem to solve. There is no reason to chase losses, because there is nothing real to lose, and nothing real to gain either.

Why balances go up and down

Each spin is random, decided by your browser's random number generator, and every spin is independent of the last. Some sessions end with more coins than you started with, some with fewer. Neither tells you anything about the next session, and a big balance does not mean you have become better at slots. There is no skill involved in where the reels stop.

It also helps to know that stake size is only a matter of preference. A higher stake makes each spin's play-coin amounts bigger in both directions, while a lower stake makes them smaller. Neither changes the odds, and neither turns coins into anything of value.

Keeping the right perspective

Orbitpop is built for entertainment. Play coins let you enjoy the machines, the features and the pocket planets without any money changing hands. What happens here does not predict what would happen in real-money gambling, and success with play coins is not a sign of anything outside the site. If you notice play coins starting to feel like they matter more than they should, it is a good moment to take a break, and the player-care tools in your account can help.
